TERMINAL OPERATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
| LnTOMS:
L&T Terminal Operation Management System is a comprehensive
system for management of activities of bulk food grain handling
which works in conjunction with the L&T Central Control System
(CCS) and a number of other systems. It comprises of software
for generation of reports related to process of bulk food grain
transfer and storage. During storage of these products, all
the quality parameters of food products are maintained by carrying
out thorough frequent lab testing and other processes. The primary
function of the TOMs software is used to generate reports of
various kinds to monitor the quality parameters of the food
products. |
LnTOMS Functions:-
1) At the base depot, were food grains are stored, during the inflow
of the food grains from the farmers, the TOMS software captures
the identity of every farmer, uniquely through an access control
system. Thus each unique individual can be identified on the system.
2) The TOMS software is used primarily
to store the quality parameters obtained from laboratory tests of
food grain samples which are taken for lab testing. The software
generates a number of reports including printed ones which are available
to the farmers.
3) TOMS also interacts with the
weighbridge system along with Central Control System (CCS) SCADA,
over Modbus using TCP/IP to obtain the weight of the incoming trucks
for reporting purposes.
The SCADA system interacts with
the TOMS, during the transfer process, of the food grains to obtain
weight & quality parameters of grain present in silos.
| System Architecture:
- Central control system (CCS) communicates
with I/O devices such as PLC, Weighbridge, and BulkWeigher,
to fetch the field data to CCS I/O server.
- For TOMS system, CCS acts as OPC (OLE Process Control)
server which provides different tag values to TOMS client.
- Also Plant information (PI) system
acts as an OPC client for CCS system for data gathering.

System
Operation:
- The system can be operated from CCS system in either Manual
mode or Auto Mode.
- Auto & manual mode can be
selected after opening the pop up window for that particular
drive.
- Manual Mode: In this mode,
operator runs every drive individually independent of other
drives. Operator opens the popup window for particular drive,
selects manual mode & provides START/STOP command.
|
- Auto Mode:
(1) In this mode, a
recipe is selected from database for particular material transfer.
A recipe is a sequence of equipments. A recipe can be selected according
to process type (either transfer, receiving, shipping etc.) or according
to source & destination of recipe.
(2) After selecting recipe
it is forwarded to TOMS software for approval. Higher authorities
in plant approve that recipe with special access provided to them
in TOMS software. After approval of recipe a job number is allotted
which is used for report generation.
(3) Then operator can
run that recipe if all the drives in that recipe are healthy & if
recipe is ready to run.
(4) Recipe starts from
destination direction to source direction to avoid blocking of grain.
(5) The biggest advantage
of running the recipe in auto mode is interlocking of drives with
each other.
(6) So when one drive
stops all the drives preceding that drive stop causing no blockage
of grain.
