Drive Tech > Tech Articles > Downsizing

With the expansion of the field of application of drives, the demands for making drives more compact and lower in cost are becoming stronger.
In this article, we will describe our endeavours towards downsizing, including the downsizing of parts such as power elements, the reduction in the amount of heat generated, and the adoption of highly-efficient cooling means.
Among the above, the issue of cooling is especially important in counteracting the increase of heating density accompanying downsizing and is becoming difficult to accommodate by normal conventional methods. With regard to this issue, we will describe the building-in of quality and the the prior verification activities which are performed at the initial stages of development by the effective utilization of CAD/CAE tools.
