Definition
Servos are small motion
control devices that have output shafts.
Servo drive consists of
several devices (like motor, Amplifier with controller & encoder) which continuously
monitors the actual information (Speed, Position & Torque) and compares the
actual information with the command and makes the immediate correction to
minimize the difference. Servo drive is a fully closed loop system.
Servo drive systems are
used in applications where the precise speed control, accurate position control
and torque control is required. Some of the machines which use servo drives
are Printing Machines, Packaging Machines, Winding Machines, Textile Machines,
Robots, Plastic Processing Machines, Special Purpose Assembly Machines and
Automotive Assembly machines.
