July 17, 2008: In a survey conducted by
Wall Street Journal Asia, L&T ranks No. 1 in Quality among
its Indian peers. In the overall listing of India’s Top 10, L&T
has claimed 6th position. And L&T is the only engineering and construction
company to feature in the Top 10. These lists are a part of compilation
of a broader list of 200 most admired companies, called Asia 200,
released by the publication recently. The survey is the performance
review of Asia’s leading companies. First conducted in 1993, the
14th instalment of Asia 200 identified the most admired publicly
traded companies in Asia Pacific based on five key leadership criteria:
management’s long-term vision; innovativeness in responding to customer
needs; quality of products and services; reputation such as good
corporate governance and workplace and environmental policies; and
financial reputation. A total of 2,477 executives and professionals
participated in the survey. On behalf of the Wall Street Journal,
market research firm Colmar Brunton conducted the survey in the
12 Asia Pacific countries. The Wall Street Journal is one of the
